| It came to me in a dream... - Noe summer 07/08 collection' by emerging designer Noella Thomson
It came to me in a dream… is about artistic expression and
individuality stemming the creative reverie of our unconscious. This place is
magical, inspired and free from the constraints and quotidian monotony of
reality.
Wearing a Noe garment allows that expression to transgress into
everyday life. Thus, the 18 garments in this summer collection convey a
distinct dreamlike quality but are effortlessly wearable.
In just three seasons, Noella’s designs have garnered interest
from the likes of Patience from
It came to me in a dream… carries a hint of 70s summer with an
eye towards the 50s secretary. But overall this range is modern and en trend.
Signature pieces include the soft floaty linen Diamond Dove dress with frill
collar – perfect for that outdoor garden party, the crisp high-waist, tailored
pencil skirts, which are striking additions to a summer work wardrobe and those
bicycle-worthy pedal pushers and playsuits, which have an ebullient playful
charm.
Each garment takes its name from wild birds. These monikers, while poetic and feminine, also carry a sense of freedom and escapism, which was a strong inspiration for the range. Original sketches by Noella also became motifs for the Diamond Dove and Storm Petrel dresses, the Treecreeper singlet, and the Welcome Swallow tee.
The range is crafted with a strong sense of silhouette and attention to
details like covered buttons, loads of gathers and unique original artwork.
Designer Noella Thomson launched Noe, the label, in 2006. With
boundless artistic energy, a passion for the art form of clothing design and an
uncanny and meticulous attention to detail, she was born to create these
delightful garments.
